Mumbai’s very own Shardul Thakur slammed six consecutive sixes in an over in the plate division of the Harris Shield, the prestigious schools cricket tournament. Thakur, playing for Swami Vivekanand school got the runs off spinner Vishal Dhruv of S Radhakrishnan school. Thakur joins the likes of Sir Garfield Sobers and fellow Mumbaikar Ravi Shastri as the only individuals to achieve the feat. Malcolm Nash and Tilak Raj were the other infamous bowlers. Thakur went on to score a 73-ball 160.
It was in the same Harris Shield that Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli had made their record 664-run partnership before it was broken earlier this year by Hyderabad boys B Manoj Kumar and Mohammad Shaibaaz Tumbi.

Not just Cricket 
Saw Shardul Thakur in action at the Baskin Robbins India Under-17 6-wicket tournament in Mumbai today. Fantastic strokemaker.
He is part of a fan-bloody-tastic Swami Vivekand School side which lost to an incredibly driven Poddar in the finalst today. Both Mumbai schools made it to the all India final hammering the lights out of schools and colleges from all over India.
What a delight to watch these young teenagers effortlessly flick a ball bowled on their pads over the sqare leg boundary or pull a shorter one over the stadium at midwicket or simply launch into a razor sharp extra cover lofted drive that easily clears the ropes….very good fun it was…awesome cricket…3-4 of these guys will easily make it to the Indian team in the not so distant future…Mr. Vengarsarkar came to do the honours but didn’t really watch the kids play but that’s not what I am referring to…the kids are not just talented they are in the news and you will hear of them…and young Shardul especially…all the best, god bless bache log…lage raho
